What should I wear?
You should wear comfortable clothing such as a loose top, tracksuit or shorts and trainers that you feel able to move around in easily, ladies would benefit from wearing a vest top or sports bra. We will need to visually assess you in terms of movement and posture, as well as move different areas of your body, so these should be accessible and visible.
Is there parking available?
We have ample free parking. Once your through the Bridge Mills gates, continue upwards on your right and you’ll come to the main car park.
Can I bring someone with me?
You are more than welcome to have someone chaperone you during your treatment. In some cases a chaperone is compulsory, such as for children or someone with special needs.
Will it hurt?
Some treatment can be uncomfortable but at no stage should you be unable to tolerate the level of discomfort. We will give you clear guidelines on what to expect during and after treatment and what is a normal reaction. If you have any concerns then you should consult us immediately.
Do I get treatment in the initial appointment?
Your first session will involve a full assessment and in most cases treatment and recommendations will be made.
Is the cost of Physiotherapy covered by health insurance?
Yes, if the physiotherapist is Chartered and registered with the HCPC (Health & Care Professionals Council). All our Physiotherapists working for Physiotherapy Room Holmfirth comply with this. It is advisable to check with your insurance company before starting treatment as they may need to pre-authorise it.
Do I need to see a doctor first?
If you are self-referring and paying for your own treatment then you do not need to see your GP first.
If you use private health insurance you may require a GP’s referral, depending on your insurer’s requirement. You should always check with your insurance company before attending your first session.

How much will it cost?

How do I pay?
Payment for any appointment is made during the session. We accept payment by all major credit and debit cards, cash payments and gift cards.
How long do sessions last?
Your first appointment will involve a full assessment and will take up to 50 minutes. Most follow up appointments are 30 to 40 minutes and will depend on what your treatment plan requires, however if you have any concerns about timings then you’re welcome to discuss this with us
How many sessions will I need?
Your physiotherapy treatment is tailored to your individual needs, so it is not possible to advise in advance how many sessions will be required. At your first appointment we will suggest the number of treatments you will require based on your assessment findings.
You can be assured at Physiotherapy Room Holmfirth you will not be over or under-treated. We will never continue treating beyond the point that is necessary and will teach you how to take steps to help prevent needing future treatment.

Can I stop treatment any time?
Yes, you can stop your treatment at any time. However, we do recommend that you complete the planned treatment course as some effects are temporary and require repeated sessions to have a long term impact.

What do I do if Physiotherapy is not helping me?
If the treatment is not helping you then do discuss these concerns with us. We will discuss your progress with you throughout your treatment. It may take some time to make improvement if you have suffered from an injury for a long period of time.
Is Physiotherapy a massage?
Physiotherapy is much more than massage, although physiotherapy treatment can include manual therapy (moving your joints), soft tissue mobilisation (such as massage), acupuncture and electrotherapy, plus many more treatment options.
What types of problems can Phyiotherapy help?
Physiotherapy can be used to help manage a wide variety of health conditions that affect many of the body’s systems. Most often these conditions relate to problems with bones, nerves, joints and soft tissues. A few day to day examples of these are painful backs, necks and joints, sports injuries, injury resulting from accidents or rehabilitation after surgery or strokes.
How effective is Physiotherapy?
In the vast majority of cases physiotherapy is considered extremely effective for appropriate conditions. Research suggests that physiotherapy significantly improves the rehabilitation and recovery of these conditions, as well as being instrumental in the prevention of further injury.
The amount of treatment that is required will vary from person to person. The average number of treatment sessions needed to achieve your anticipated results is approximately 5 sessions.
